Welcome to the home page of First Presbyterian Church of Douglas, GA. I am happy that you have chosen to visit here and pray that you will find what you are looking for on this site. First Presbyterian is not a congregation seeking to be “all things to all people.” One reason for that is that it is impossible for any church to do that. Yet, the primary reason we do not try to do that is we endeavor to offer you and all who visit and participate something even better. We try to offer to all whom we can reach the message and the ministry of Jesus Christ who is our “all in all”; Jesus Christ whom we worship and serve as the Savior of sinners, the Head and Authority of the Church, and the Lord of life. The framework we use in carrying out that mission can be found in our simple but straightforward mission statement:
First Presbyterian Church exists to
proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ,
to provide opportunities for spiritual growth,
and to serve this community and the world
in the spirit of the Servant Christ.
This is the heart of what we desire to do and, with God’s strength and guidance, strive to be. It is also what we welcome anyone to be a part of who is looking to grow in their faith and live out that faith. The way I would summarize that mission is as follows.
JESUS CHRIST: He is the One whom we love, proclaim, worship, and serve. We tell about the Good News of Christ and demonstrate the Christ who lives within believers. If you are seeking a community to not only speak out the faith but live out the faith, this may be a place where you would be blessed.
PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SPIRITUAL GROWTH: This means relationships and fellowship with Jesus Christ and with each other. And, it means looking for and providing ways to study, learn and grow in the knowledge, confidence and hope found in God’s promises which grow out of these relationships.
SERVE COMMUNITY and WORLD: To be in relationship with Jesus Christ is to be in service with and for Jesus Christ. Or, as Jesus Himself said, “I came not to be served but to serve.” You are welcome to participate in the outreach ministries of this congregation and to do so in the unifying, strengthening ... SPIRIT OF THE SERVANT CHRIST.
